Get the Right Painting Supplies to Paint Your House Right

If you are planning to start painting your house, then you need to make sure that you have the right supplies. Without the right supplies and tools, it's going to be harder for you to achieve the results you want. You don't want to have to put in all the work necessary to paint your house only for you to be unhappy with how it turned out in the end. You would either be stuck with a bad paint job, have to do it all over again, or pay someone to come fix it for you. In order to save you time and effort, make sure that you have what you need before you begin painting. So, what are some of the things that you need in order to do the job right?

Painter's Tape

Tape is going to be able to help you do several different things. One thing is it's going to help give you a nice, crisp edge along your wall. You can also use it to block off areas that don't need to be painted as well as using it to create patterns and designs on the walls that you are painting. However, make sure that you are using painter's tape because the adhesive isn't as strong as typical scotch tape, so it will peel off the wall easily without damaging your new paint job or leaving any residue behind.

Drop Cloths

You need to protect the areas that you don't want to get paint on, like your floors, gardens, or furniture. Drop cloths can help you do that. They also make cleanup easier because spills end up on the cloth instead. There are several different types of drop cloths you can buy, and many are offered from the same store you can buy your paint at. One style you may consider is disposable plastic drop cloths, they already have tape on one side, so you can just tape it to your wall and then unroll the plastic. That can help eliminate one step for you and make your job easier.

Sanders

You are also going to need to get sanders or sandpaper. That's because you are going to need to scrape off any loose paint flakes and then sand those areas smooth. Leaving those flaky areas or rough spots on the wall is going to make the paint not stick as well, and it will show through the new paint job. Old chipping paint under your new paint will cause the new paint to flake off.

If you are going to paint your house on your own, make sure that you have all the paint supplies you need in order to do the job right the first time.
